Academic Prospects is dedicated to providing a platform for academically accomplished baseball players to showcase their skills and pursue opportunities at the collegiate level. We aim to put the spotlight on student athletes who have high goals both in the classroom and on the field to help them have a seamless and rewarding college recruiting process.
The AP Difference
Sensible Schedule
When forming AP, the loudest feedback our staff continued to hear from families was that their previous travel ball experience involved weeks worth of travel, snowball expenses, all to be evaluated by few coaches who might not have represented schools which alligned with the goals of the student athlete. AP's carefully crafted schedule maximizes the exposure high academic prospects seek, without running from national tournament to national tournament.
Experienced Coaching
The AP staff coaches who will be on field with the team are all current college baseball coaches. They are not only experienced and versed in the recruiting needs of a modern recruiting process, they have been on the other side of the conversation. With coaches and staff at AP sporting experience at top schools in the country - including Ivy League coaching experience - you can be confident that assessment and guidance through the recruiting process is comprehensive and accurate.

In total across their previous ventures, the staff has helped over 450 players find their right fit at the collegiate level. Previous players' commitments to Ivy League, Patriot League, NESCAC, NEWMAC, UAA, Liberty League, and Centennial Conference programs exemplify AP's deep rooted connections at countless top academic institutions nationwide.

Matt Werts
Matt is the co-founder of Academic Prospects with over two decades of experience placing college players across the country. Matt has developed strong relationships with top ranked colleges and universities nation wide.

Matt Riebesell
Matt Riebesell is the general manager for the Academic Prospects Baseball Club. He is also the recruiting coordinator at Franklin & Marshall College. Along with recruiting at F&M, Riebesell has experience as a coach in the Southern Region, along with a stint at the DI level.

Ryan Horning
Ryan Horning is the Head Baseball Coach at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. 2025 will be his 12th season at the helm of the program. The 4-time Centennial Conference Coach of the Year has multiple years of DI experience, and Ivy League Coaching experience as an assistant.

Nolan Driscoll
Nolan Driscoll is the recruiting coordinator at Hamilton College, a top ranked liberal arts college in Clinton, NY. Nolan also has experience at the NCAA DI and DII levels as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
